RAFAEL NADAL, YOU ARE UNBELIEVABLE. (Edit: OMG at the latest Gossip Girl!)

TENNIS RANT.

This article practically made my blood boil. I won't bother bitching about the writer's choice of words ("demoralised Swiss rival"? HAS THE MORON READ ROGER'S PRESS CONFERENCE?) and thinly-veiled stabs at Roger because it's just a waste of time and it isn't the point of the rant.

The point of the rant is this:

"Roger played the last three years in the final at Roland Garros and the semi-finals in 2005, so for sure he's going to be one of the big favourites to win that," Nadal said, surely bluffing now.

"For sure it's easier to win one title like Roland Garros for Roger than me winning the grand slam. That's no competition."

At least the writer caught on to Nadal's possible bluff. Roger one of the favourites to win at Roland Garros? Who the fuck is he kidding? Was he asleep the last three times he defeated Roger in the final of the French Open, and most recently thrashed Roger in the final?

I mean, really. There's genuine modesty, and then there's modesty so ludicrous that it defies logic and makes you wonder what twisted mind game the person is playing. What twisted mind game are you playing, Rafa? Of course he's happy to pile all the pressure back on Roger; Roger's been dealing with it for years. The first time Roger's name was thrown into the GOAT discussion, he'd only won three grand slams. Now he has 13. How many years has he had to put up with the pressure of everyone expecting him to consistently perform that the near-perfect level he's established for himself?

For fuck's sake, who's the #1? Is it Roger Federer? No, it's not. Who is gunning for his fifth French Open? Not Roger Federer. Is there even a group of "favourites" to win the French Open, or has there ever been one favourite, i.e. the guy who's won it four times in a row?

I'd always preferred to give Nadal the benefit of the doubt when Fedtards are ripping apart his supposed modesty and humility. I tried to be objective. But this idiotic comment about Roger being one of the favourites to win at Roland Garros has officially crossed into Utterly Unbelievably Stupid and Inane territory. It is blatantly and shamelessly stupid. It simply defies all rational thinking and logic. Roger being a favourite at Wimbledon, Australian Open, the US Open - yes, definitely.

BUT THE FUCKING FRENCH OPEN?

Rafael Nadal, for the love of tennis, please stop talking out of your arse.

Not to mention - if you say a few times that Roger Federer is the greatest, I'll believe you. If you say it ten million times, even after you'd just beaten him three consecutive times in grand slam finals, I can't believe you genuinely mean it anymore. I don't buy the modesty, the supposed humility; increasingly it's looking like a ploy to keep the pressure on Roger so that the current world #1 shirks the responsibility of being world #1 and continues to fly under the radar. Everyone expects Roger to perform miracles and play at the level of perfection, but no one expects anything from Nadal, nevermind the fact that Roger is no longer #1 and Nadal has won at least one grand slam on all three surfaces. And at the one tournament at which all the pressure should be on Nadal, by mere virtue of the fact that he's won it four times in a row, he goes on record saying, "Roger Federer is one of the favourites to win."

Fuck you. Fuck you. You want to be modest? Stop talking out of your arse and say something you actually mean.

And above all else, I think this is telling: Nadal says he loves winning. Roger said in the press conference I posted in the previous entry that he loves tennis.

QED.

ETA:

The following contains spoilers for the latest Gossip Girl.

OMG I HATE DAN HUMPHREY AND I HATE HIS DISGUSTING NEW SQUEEZE.

I've hated that new teacher since the first time she appeared on the show. She's a BITCH! And OMG how disgusting is it to SLEEP WITH DAN HUMPHREY!!!!!!

I feel so dirty. I'm super grossed out!!!!!!!!

Also, things are NOT GOOD if I was bored with the Chuck Bass storyline! I found the flashback scenes of that whatever ultimate gentleman's party thing utterly cheesy.

And I still hate Vanessa.
